Babbacombe beach however is a delightful small beach set beneath the cliffs at Babbacombe Downs and is operated by a private company with Good Beach Guide awards in 2009. The promenade on Babbacombe Downs is known as the highest in England and has spectacular views. There are plenty of rock pools at low tide and and walks around the area. You can walk for miles along the South West Coastal path which runs through this area. The beach is very popular with local families and holiday makers, diving groups and fishing enthusiasts. The Cary Arms from Peter De-Savary has now made this small beach even more famous than when John Lee lived there (The man they couldn’t hang)

The picturesque lane down to the beach is very steep and has very limited parking. It is next to Oddicombe Beach, accessible from the Babbacombe Cliff Railway, and Oddicombe Beach Road.

Bus services to the top of the lane 32, 85, St Anne’s Road. The nearest town is Torquay.

Disabled:Disabled access is difficult. The road down is very steep, but there is a car park at the bottom with a promenade that has level access.
